What's Going On

NC CBF Children's Missions Day - Christmas Around the World
Sat., Nov. 8, 2008

Merry Christmas!

Over 100 children heard these words proclaimed at our area NC CBF Children's Missions Day at College Park Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Eight children from FBC participated in a day filled with learning and laughter. Children traveled to different parts of the United States and around the globe to learn about other cultures, Christmas traditions or lack there of depending on a people groups faith. Participants heard from CBF missionaries, Ben and Leonora Newell and donated books for CBF Poverty Initiative work in Helena, Arkansas. Children also were able to choose fun electives including drama, logos and games, cooking and more. Our missions day concluded with worship together lead by some of the missions day participants. Special thanks to our chaperones, parents and leaders making this day a priority for our children.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

Sunday Morning Bible Study provides age-appropriate Bible learning opportunities for Babies through 5th grade children each Sunday from 9:45 - 10:45 am.

Our goal is to help each preschooler form positive attitudes about God, Jesus, the Bible, self, others, the natural world, family, and church.Teachers use direct instruction and play to help lay spiritual foundations.

Children's Sunday Morning Bible Study strives to help children learn Bible truths and foundations of the Christian faith as they read and study Bible stories.  Children develop skills so that they may use their Bibles for personal Bible study and spiritual growth.

Wednesday Evenings

Each Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 6:00 pm (August - May with a Christmas break), we offer a cafeteria-style family dinner.  The Timothy Ringers (a handbell choir for grades 3-8) practice before dinner from 4:30 - 4:55 pm and then all children, ages 3 years - 5th grade, gather after dinner for Missions and Music from 6:00-7:30 pm. Childcare is available for babies-2 year olds.

Missions

Preschoolers and children learn and do missions on Wednesday evenings.  Preschoolers, ages 3 years - Pre-K, participate in Mission Friends while children in grades Kindergarten - 5th grade take part in Children In Action (CIA).

Music

Children's Choirs
Wednesday evening music is vital for the development and understanding of music, church music and spiritual growth. Children ages 3 - pre-k participate in Music Time, a non-performing group. Children in kindergarten-2nd grades make up our Music Makers choir and children in 3rd - 5th grades sing in the Young Musicians. The Music Makers and Young Musicians lead in worship services at various times throughout the year.

Timothy Ringers
The Timothy Ringers are a performing handbell choir made up of 3rd-8th graders.  The ringers rehearse on every Wednesday afternoon before our church's fellowship dinner.  The Timothy Ringers prepare music to offer in the 11:00 worship service, and they develop basic handbell skills such as "change ringing."  Interested?  Come join the group!

Safety and Security

Let's us work together on the following to keep our children and guests safe. Thanks for working together!

Please drop off and pick up all children no earlier and no later than 15 minutes following scheduled events and classes.

Parents of Preschoolers - Please keep pagers with you at all times when your children are in the preschool area and return pagers immediately when picking up children.

Try to drop off and pick up preschoolers and children at doors rather than entering rooms so that we can minimize accidents and confusion in rooms with adult teachers and leaders.

Please escort children to and from locations and do not assume that teachers are in rooms or at locations such as gym or playground where you might think that adults are available for supervision. Please do not leave a child in classrooms without an adult.
