Serving and Missions Opportunities

Missions_Strip

First Baptist Church has an established mission team whose purpose is to encourage members and guests to use their time, talents and resources in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through missions and ministry in our community, state, nation and world.

We want to help you to become involved in “hands on” ministry that addresses a social or human need.  Our "Where Will You Serve" missions booklet lists the ministries in the First Baptist community that has a team leader.
You can download the booklet by clicking here.  After reviewing the booklet, please let the Team Leader for the ministry  know of your interest in helping with that particular ministry.

Let’s be the Body of Christ to others through our missions and ministries.

Help is Needed for the Early Worship Service
Prayerfully consider volunteering to help lead "The Gathering", our early worship service at 8:30am Sunday mornings in Kelly Auditorium. We are in need of:

  • Prayer leaders on the 1st, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month
  • PowerPoint operation on the 3rd Sunday
  • "Welcome" speaker on the 4th Sunday

Call Carla Diehl at 782-7669 for more information and/or sign-up.

Samaritan Ministries
First Baptist Church on Fifth has a more than 20-year history of volunteering with Samaritan Ministries, traditionally covering the first week in January. We hope we will be able to fill this need again this year. Support is needed between the hours of 6:00pm and 6:00am on Monday, January 2; Wednesday, January 4; Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7. Contact Bob Eddwards at edwardsbenefits@triad.rr.com to sign up or learn more.

Crisis Control Ministry
Crisis Control Ministry is a Christian organization that works daily to assist those in immediate need of food, shelter and prescription medication and offers encouragment toward self-sufficiency. Volunteers of CCM have the opportunity to see firsthand how the organization provides support for those less fortunate in our community. With the recent state of the economy, CCM has experienced an increase in the number of people coming through its doors leading to an immediate need for volunteers. For more information about volunteer opportunities at Crisis Control Ministries contact Vicki Jones at 336.724.7875 x1043 or by email at volunteer@crisiscontrol.org.
